Gates Really Swing!
In All-Dance Tribute

Two announcements have been made by Swing!. The first is a new musical lineup for the
show's band, the Gotham City Gates. In addition, production sources have now released a
complete list of producers for the all-dance tribute.
There were several changes in the musical department at the show. As of Nov. 4, the line
up of the show's band, the Gotham City Gates, is as follows: The band is being conducted
by Jonathan Smith and his associate conductor, Douglas Oberhamer. The show's music
coordinator is John Miller, with piano and keyboard by Jonathan Smith, guitars by Dan
Hovey, bass by Conrad Korsch, drums and percussion by Scott Neumann, woodwinds by Matt
Hong and Lance Bryant, trumpet by Douglas Oberhamer, with trombone by Steve Armour.
Various members of the Gotham City Gates have worked with such big band luminaries as
Lionel Hampton, Illinois Jacquet, Woody Herman, Blues Jumpers, Jimmy Dorsey and Toshiko
Akyoshi.
Production sources now list the show's producers as Marc Routh, Richard Frankel, Steven
Baruch, Tom Viertel, Jujamcyn Theaters and Lorie Cowen Levy/Stanley Shopkorn in
association with BB Promotion, Dede Harris/Jeslo Productions, Libby Adler Mages/Mari
Glick, James D. Stern/Douglas L. Meyer, and PACE Theatricals/SFX.
Associate producers for Swing! are TV Asahi/Hayanku, MARS Theatrical Productions and
Judith Marinoff.
Previews began at the St. James Theatre Nov. 2 for Swing!, the all dance, high octane
tribute to both the Swing Era and the Swing craze currently sweeping the nation. Directed
and choreographed by Lynne Taylor Corbett, Swing, will open Dec. 9 at the St. James
Theatre. Developed from an idea by the show's originator, Paul Kelly, Swing showcases top
Broadway singing and dance talent in a revue of Swing, Lindy Hop and Broadway styles.
