Amadeus, Kiss Me, Kate and The Music Man, all revivals, lead the 1999-2000 Outer Critics Circle Awards with eight nominations each. Close behind is Contact, the Susan Stroman-John Weidman "dance play," with seven nods.

Of the two Wild Party musicals, the Off-Broadway effort at Manhattan Theatre Club netted five noms, while the Public Theater's Broadway offering only won one nod, for actress Toni Collette.

In addition, the OCC Executive Committee is bestowing Special Achievement Awards to Barry Humphries of Dame Edna: The Royal Tour and to actors Philip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly of True West.

The Outer Critics Circle is an organization of writers on the New York Theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway. This season is the 50th Anniversary of the Outer Critics Circle. The winners of the following categories will be announced on May 1, and the annual awards ceremony will be held on May 25th at Sardi's.
