The Broadway musical Swing!
will perform its popular dance duel, "Throw That Girl Around"/"Show Me What
You Got" for the first time outside the St. James Theatre on March 10, when they
appear on the "Today Show."
Production sources report that Swing! stars Everett Bradley, Casey MacGill and The Gotham
City Gates (Swing!'s band), will lead dancers Beverly Durand, Aldrin Gonzalez, Carlos
Sierra Lopez and Maria Torres through the popular number written by Everett Bradley.
No word, however, as to whether the dance duel between Beverly Durand and Aldrin Gonzalez,
doing West Coast swing, and Maria Torres and Carlos Sierra-Lopez, doing Latin swing, might
lead to any footwork by "Today" hosts Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, Al Roker or Ann
Curry.
If they do join in, the NBC cast might warm up and follow directions carefully: In the
past, Swing! dancers, comprising world-class swing, Lindy Hop and Broadway hoofers, have
made no bones about the rigors and challenges of doing the show. News persons beware!
