SWING! Dancer
SCOTT FOWLER featured in GAP'S new WEST SIDE STORY ad campaign to premiere during the
OSCARS
Scott Fowler, of the new hit Broadway musical SWING!, will be featured in Gap's new West
Side Story ad campaign, set to premiere during this year's Oscar telecast on Sunday, March
26. Mr. Fowler dances the role of "Riff" in the eagerly awaited commercials.
During the Academy Awards, the Gap will premiere three commercials based on West Side
Story, which premiered on Broadway in 1957. The spot recreates Jerome Robbins' original
choreography for the songs "America,'' "Cool'' and "The Mambo.'' For the
advertisements, the Sharks and the Jets have been replaced by the Jeans and the Khakis. In
the final "Mambo'' spot, the Jeans and the Khakis collide in a dance-off in which
they ask, "Are you a jean or a khaki?''
Scott Fowler has been a featured dancer on Broadway in The Red Shoes, Ain't Broadway Grand
and Jerome Robbins' Broadway. He played Harry Beaton in Brigado on at NYC Opera, has
toured nationally in The Tap Dance Kid and 42nd Street, is a former member of the New York
City Ballet and serves as director/choreographer of Best Foot Forward Productions in LA.
Scott was featured in the TV movie adaptations of "Cinderella" and
"Annie."
