Hello Music Lovers:

Well, good old egotistical me has been pumping up my birthday jam on March 31st at SWING46, but another important member of our band is having a birthday today!! And that is none other than "Mr. Smoove" himself--the incomparable Lance Bryant!!!

You may know Lance as one of the featured performers in the band in the Broadway smash hit, "SWING." Some may have even seen him in the past as the musical director for the legendary Lionel Hampton Big Band. And, of course, you all know him as one of the musical mainstays of my swing congregations, The Make-Believe Ballroom Orchestra and The Jump, Jive & Wailers - where he blows a barrel full of tenor sax and shout the blues that would make Joe Williams and Jimmy Rushing proud!!

So, come one, come all. Join us in celebrating his birthday as the big band jives hard at SWING46 Jazz & Supper Club for our usual Thursday night swingfest (349 W. 46th St.; 10pm to 1am.) And all you ladies out there: We'll definitely have a birthday jam for him - I saw him dance the other day and man, he has picked up some smoove moves!

Musically,

george gee

A reminder from Lesley Martin about tonight's fun at The Piano Bar:

Just a reminder...that tomight is that TROPIC HOP with Casey MacGill--a rare and exclusive chance to see Mister MacGill and his Spirits of Rhythm--down and dirty, up close and personal (not just through the screen of your TV set and not from those $60 nosebleed Broadway seats--cool). They're gonna be doing their thang plus a little extra tropicana twang to boot. Where? Why, down at the PIANO STORE, of course. Please e-mail to be put on the $10 guest list. (That's at ProhibitionRSVP@excite.com) Dancing starts at 9:30 with spinmeister DJ Chops, Chad Kincaid. Live music begins at 11:00. 158 Ludlow at Stanton. See ya there!

Mark your calendars, kids. Next Wednesday night, Prohibition Productions is hosting a Tropic Hop, featuring Casey MacGill (one of the stars of SWING! on Broadway) at the Piano Store. DJ Chops will start spinning the tunes at 9:30 p.m. and the live music starts at 11:00 (gotta give Casey a minute to scoot down from midtown). More information coming soon!
